Youth Theatre

For the youth, theatre arts are an important means of expression and charisma. Many groups around Riverside offer this theatrical means through summer programs and theatre productions. By getting involved in this form of art, one is able to give back to his or her community, and promote enjoyment to those who watch their productions.

Riverside Youth Theatre is an organization that intends to provide training for youth in the theatre arts in a fun, family-friendly environment. With the motto, “Where future ‘stars' shine bright,” Riverside Youth Theater intends to make the arts accessible to all. Auditions for the productions are open to those in 7 th grade to 20 years old, and all musicals and plays are reviewed for content that is appropriate for youth. Program costs are kept as low as possible by efficient management and parent volunteers. Along with its theatrical productions, Riverside Youth Theater provides classes in elementary and teen dance, group vocal lessons, and music fundamentals & reading sheet music.

Another organization that provides theatre to the youth is the RCC Summer Conservatory. This program takes place during the summer of each year and opens the youth to a college environment. It consists of college level theater and dance classes, both of which cover ones arts criteria for his or her college transcript. At the end of the two month span, the teens perform in a high caliber theatrical production. This program is great for the older crowds, as it prepares them with the concepts of college and introduces them to a much more professional and rigorous work ethic.
